This is the same for the Porsche 951 (944 Turbo). Forged
(maybe cast) aluminum control arm, non-replaceable ball
joint, major bend over at the dealership for a new one.
There is a company in Texas (Precision something) that
specializes in reworking these, and is adept at the shipping
part of it. They will turn around a 951 control arm in a
week. I will try to find out this weekend. Do not know if
they are tooled for the A6 however. If you need to find out
faster, check www.rennlist.com and do a search for this.
