Everything I have read seems to indicate that these were very
difficult carsto drive but their reponse was lightning fast
without the large polar movement of the UrQ. The technique for
driving them well and fast is unlike any Merican road chase you
ever saw, requiring precise lines that did not promote over or
understeer up to the limit. On dirt however it was a different
story and you could hang out the tail with left foot braking
almost as well as Puegot or Metro and I guess today's Subies are
exactly the same concept, but lighter with the lower polar mass of
their horizontal engines.

So on the twisties the SQ was optimal for the time. On the longer
tracks, the area rule applied!
