My first 1000 miles (and a small rant)

Well, I've put my first 1000 miles or so on my new A6Q2.8,
the one that "doesn't exist" because of the 5-speed manual.
First impressions: how do they manage to keep making these
cars so much nicer? It is head and shoulders nicer than my
'95 A6QW, and can't even be mentioned in the same sentence
as my '89 100Q! The car is very nicely balanced, and the
2.8V6 power plant is more than up to the task of gracefully
moving this car around.
Thanks to a helpful lister who steered me to the page on
how to find/remove the Servotronic relay on this car, it
now handles beautifully, without that vague wallow that
Servotronic gives the car. Anyone who has this in their car
(I think all the A6 and A8s had it, the A4s don't seem to)
should remove it ASAP. You will be SO THANKFUL YOU DID!
Now my rant; it's against AoA.
Why do they assume US drivers don't want a car like this?
They force Servotronic down our throats, which is designed
to let a 90 year old arthritic grandmother spin the wheel
with one finger, while totally removing all road feel!
Then they don't even OFFER the 5-speed manual unless you
get either the small A4, or a souped-up turbo or V8, neither
of which (IMHO) is needed. You can't even ORDER a 5-speed
manual with this car. Why?
Anyway, I gotta go out and get plates for it today, so I'll
be back in an hour with a smile on my face.
