de-icer causes electrical shorts + more

Not only that, but it goops up my antenna preventing it from retracting fully.  And
I suspect its sticky character greatly contributes to the amazing amount of
slush/snow/ice/salt buildup which adheres to the wheel well and completely envelops
my tires, creating terrible rubbing/grinding noises.  I say lose the chemicals and
give me the iced and snowpacked roads back.....that's why I've got quattro!

This might be a little oblique, but the local news is reporting that
mag. chloride which is used on streets to deice has caused seven
power outages this season. Apparently the aerosols float up and
short the insulators, etc. Probably not good for VAG vehicles
