It should take only a few hours.  Contact your dealer before making an 
appointment to make sure that they have the replacement tie rods in 
stock.  Just over a year ago, I took my 98.5 A4 to have the tie rod ends 
replaced under this recall.  Left car at the dealer in the early AM & it 
was ready in the PM.
