ME TOO! ! ! ME TOO! !
I went ahead and had the new shorter spring kit put on (am waiting on the
anti-sway bar to see how the ride changes just with the springs --
thanks to all of you for responding to my hit-and-run question). I also
stuck my Momo Corse steering wheel in there while they were working on my
car... since my "other-not-a-Quattro" car is not anywhere near ready for
the track yet (engine/tranny still waiting to go in), I won't be using it
otherwise....
When I gave back the 2001 Mitsubishi Montero (YUCK! talk about being
taller than a Ford SubDivision) rental and stepped into my newly LOWERED
Audi Dudi, I thought I was getting into a shrimpie car! But wow! those
springs made a difference. It started to snow while I was in my Swedish
class last night and driving home to Seattle from Bellevue was like a huge
moving autocross in a whiteout.
This morning with the extra 7 or so inches of dumping, it was moving
chicanes ALL THE WAY TO WORK! Woo hoo! There was really no ice anywhere
that I drove, so I just .... c r u i s e d ... through slush, snow, crud,
wet pavement, mounded snow, huge puddles KA-SPLASH ... Yahoo!
About the springs, though: Either the right rear spring or the right rear
strut is talking to me now. It says 'ga-doing' when I make a sharp turn. I
did not replace my turbo-gas struts when the spring kit was put on. Could
the strut be leaking? (They are 2 years old.) Or could there be a problem
with the geometry of the spring setup?
Tess's '88 80Q still a slug, but lower
