[urq] sticky clutch pedal

For the past year, I've gone through the same thing myself on my '85
UrQ. What I found was a weak hydraulic system. If the internal pressure
doesn't return the pedal to the halfway point (where the spring assembly
takes over) the pedal will feel as if it's catching.
First, I would try bleeding the system to make sure there's no air in
it. (This helped but did not solve the issues... the pedal kept getting
lower and lower...indicating a leaking system.)
Then my next step was to replace the clutch master cylinder. (This is
very easy on a LHD car.) Unfortunately, I had to take the additional
step of relacing the slave cylinder as well... very difficult to say the
least.
I was called out of town on business just after several listers had
given me hints on how to do it.... so I wimped out and left the car with
the local German wrench while I was gone.
The end result: the clutch feels better than it ever has... making the
car even more of a joy to drive. The new parts were about $250 and the
labor for the slave was $150.
