overheated 4kq, new moter needed? New to list :-)

Hi all,
I am new to this list, hope you don't mind some newbie type questions. I
have been given an 87 4kq that was SEVERLY overheated. The car is now
blowing bubbles (exhaust) inside the overflow reservoir. I realize that the
head is probably warped, and the head gasket is most definately shot. My
question is this: should I try to replace the head gasket and put another
head on, or should I skip that and go directly to the engine transplant
route?

I am afraid that if I just replace head/ gasket that I will find that other
internal parts (rings, bearings, etc) were stressed and will prematurely
fail.

Any and all opinions will be carefully considered, thanks for your time :-)
