It's in the archives, someone posted corresponding part #'s for Ford
Tractor Hydraulic oil and a few others which were a direct spec match to
the green gold. A lister mentioned using Mobil DTE-13M Mineral oil at
$30 for a 5 gallon drum as compatible fluid with no ill effects. I know
of one Bentley/Rolls shop that uses DTE instead of the $45 liter
hydraulic oil specified by the manufacturer, says it actually works
better than the factory oil.
I've paid as little as $4.50 for 7.1 on sale, and the new 11S is around
$9 from the local wholesalers.
If your car is leaking to the point of making gallon purchases a
necessity, it's time to fix the problem, because it will end up costing
you much more in the end. I had a Pentosin leak or two that I just kept
topping off till I could get around to fixing it. The green gold eats
away at all the rubber it comes in contact with, so my leak ended up
costing me front and rear subframe bushings, a swollen coolant hose or
two, and I suspect it had a hand in weakening the already brittle OEM
plastic radiator, among other things.
