Looks perfectly functional, it might even be a better location than mine as
far as heat from the exhaust manifold goes. How did you route the air back
into the low pressure side?
So far I love the difference the valve has made in the car. I was asked to
do a follow-up post on my 'seat-of-the-pants' impressions. It will be
forthcoming. It will be positive!!

When I installed a by-pass valve on my wife's 87 5KTQ, I simply made an
adapter that fit in the lower IC hose. It was pretty straight forward.
I found a piece of exhaust tubing which fit snugly in the hose, cut off
about
3 inches and brazed an elbow on it. Then I marked the hose where I wanted
the elbow to exit, cut a hole with an appropriate sized hole saw (this
also
could have been done with a knife) and then finished cutting the IC hose
in
the centerline of the elbow exit hole.
See the attached crude drawing. I then slid the adapter into the hose and
clamped everything in place. Its been working fine for over a year.
