Allow me to humbly apologize to Mr. Johnson for my obvious,
blatant, inexcusable transgression; as you all know of course, I'm a
newbie around here with only 7 years on the list, and I deserve to
have foul language thrown at me, as I've never made any valuable
contributions, never done -anything- to benefit the list, or anything
like that. I hope you'll all forgive me...

I just think it's ironic, because on SEVERAL occasions you have not allowed
me to slip. I also think it's funny, considering that, off and on, the M5
has now been available for 13 years. It's taken you 13 years to notice the
most potent production sedan ever offered in the states? And, on several
occasions, I've talked about the one which my father owns. But, apparently,
that conversation would have been much too menial and contained too little
information regarding Audis to have been considered pertinant by you. In
that regard, I appologize and find it sad that "car buffs" aren't more
inclined to open their personal horizons and learn a little about other types
of automobiles, considering that probably 1 million Americans didn't find it
neccesary to buy an Audi this year, but some other type of vehicle. My
comment to you was no indication of your lack of contribution to the list -
however, your comments (and others) to me have attempted expressly to show my
obvious lack of intelligence to the rest of the list in all manners regarding
Audi automobiles. Which is fine, considering that I never have claimed to
be, and never will be, the expert in any field automotive. However, I would
say that I know a fair bit more than a good portion of the list regarding
other marques - specifically, Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, Bentley, et al. And
Brett, I've been on the list for 5 years now, so obviously length of
enrollment has nothing to do with the way in which our fellow listers, having
made a mistake, are treated. I hope that you and others take this incident
(the latest in a long line) into account next time that someone, such as
myself, makes a mistake regarding an Audi. Perhaps the needlessly long flame
wars need not occur.

Would you agree?

Later!
Carter Johnson
