Hydraulic hose woes--again

Fellow listers -
The pressure hose to the steering rack failed tonight. If I hadn't had
this hose rebuilt a few months ago, I wouldn't be particularly
disappointed.
The hose separated from the fitting nearest the rack--pulled right out
of the crimp fitting. It happened during a parking maneuver. I turned
the steering wheel quickly at very low speed (okay, I might have been
stopped) and heard a bang as the steering wheel bounced back. The smell
of hot Pentosin soon filled the air, as I hurriedly backed the car off
the street without steering assist.
Got the car towed home, where I will install a _new_ hydraulic hose this
time. I imagine the rebuild shop will want to do it again, but I'm going
to insist that they give me my money back. The steering groaned ever
since I got that rebuilt hose, even with a restrictor, and I'm not going
to risk having the hose fail again.
Any guess if I've damaged the pump? It ran without a good fluid supply
for probably 10 seconds while I got the car off the street. I should've
killed the ignition immediately.
Hope no one else has such a disappointing experience with hydraulic hose
repair--and may others think twice before having it done.
