Type 44 overflow vent problem

The PoS I'm currently drivihg around in while I fix the bus has
just popped the well-known plastic vent that connects to the
over to the header tank.

I think the list has discussed the ineffectiveness of repairs
many times.  Is it possible to run the car very temporarily with
this line blocked off?
