1. Not all 90q's have 165bhp, only the 20v's.
2. I don't own a Porsche so my Porsche brakes go on my Audi.
3. I started with wimpy single piston calipers that did not haul the car
down very quickly. They faded after one stop from 100mph. The brake feel
actually got worse, but I am installing a larger MC to get the feel better
and travel down. My car stops a fair amount better now, yes I can feel my
eyes bulging out of my head which I could never get before, friends also
notice a huge difference in stopping power. I can stop time after time
without any fade, never. If I took this car to the track with the stock
brakes I wouldn't be able to brake after half a lap. I do drive hard on the
street and plan to get to the track someday, so the brakes are there for a
purpose, and they perform their purpose very well at a very good price.
Test drive a TYP89 with big brakes and tell me there is no stopping distance
difference. If there isn't any difference then the only gain over the stock
system is fade resistance. If that were true I'd just get some water tanks
and a spray nozzle to cool the rotors and pads. Those big brake companies
have surely have fooled tons of customers, especially those silly race car
drivers. They should have much smaller systems like the stock one on my 80
to reduce unsprung weight and then just have water nozzles spraying down the
brakes, but they run huge brakes and some do use the water. I'll say it,
bigger brakes slow cars down faster, there I did it, launch your missiles of
subjectivity. I have experienced it first hand.
4. I agree, different strokes for different folks. Now wouldn't it be more
cordial to just say that instead of looking down your nose at me and my car?
My 80 is silly, and I love it. I'd love a quattro to someday, but not just
yet.
