5K Window Regulator

Well it's finally happened, one of my window regulators died.  I managed
to get the window back up (expecting snow tomorrow) by manually lifting
while hitting the up button.  Now I'll disconnect the switch so that it
doesn't go down again...  The motor runs fine, it just seems that the
cable is jammed or broken.

After searching the archives, I have a question or two for those that
have BTDT before:

1.  Is the new lever actuated regulator really better?  It seems that
there were some mixed opinions on this in the archives?

2.  Somewhere I have the instructions for replacing the broken cables in
the regulator.  Is this worth the hassle, does it last?  Anyone out
there still doing this?

3.  Best place to get a replacement reg?
