The Vin sequence actually skips I,O,Q,U,Z for the 10th digit.
The 2003 year models will have the number "3" as the tenth digit, and
will continue this way all the way up to 2009 which will have a "9", for
2010 model year, I have no idea what they'll do. Ten years down the road
you'll probably just ask the car what year it is and it'll tell you,
along with a reminder to clean up the pentosin spill from your old type
44 parked next to it.
