I was told the "E" designation on Dunlops refers to an "isometric" tire that 
although it has a 205/55/16 designation the actual size/shape is slightly 
different and the compound used in producing the tire offers greater side-wall 
flex and durability.  So I guess it sort of goes along with Taka's post.
