Fellow listers and potential group buyers,
I just got a reply from the UK based proposed supplier which I believe you
should read and get informed about.
(his price stands for 550 instead of 560 to 520 of the other proposed
supplier)
I am also attaching my reply to his e-mail.
Take care
Pantelis
P.S. My view is that I would prefer to give the 20 US$ and be sure of the
first quality of the items I buy. Mind you we are still 5 persons interested
so we may not be able to get the 550 price since he quoted this for 10+
buyers.

QUOTE his reply about reducing the price
At no time have we ever claimed to be the cheapest. If you like I can point
you in the direction of a supplier that will sell you kits for $350 and I am
happy to do so. I would add at this price it is not a European based
company, let me know. During the development phase of our kits design we
bought 22 kits from around the world to see what other companies are doing.
We have a small number of these left and are selling them off for $450 as
advertised on the FORUM. This is what you will get from the other suppliers
as we bought these from them!!
What we do offer is, in our opinion, the best kits you can buy , regardless
of price. The other suppliers take a D2 lamp put it in a lathe and turn it
down. They then cut up a halogen lamp for the base and glue the two pieces
together. This is then described and sold as a conversion kit as it fits
into a hole in the reflector. This of course does not mean that they work or
provide the correct light distribution. What is claimed from the other
suppliers is that 'We sell beam pattern corrected kits'. This is physically
not possible. It is also the reason why non of them sell H1 kits because you
do not have sufficient GRP on a D2 base to turn it down small enough in the
lathe.
You can see on the Philips forum that we have asked 4 times now how these
companies 'Correct the Beam pattern'. Many will say to you that the 'Focal
point' of the lamp is correct, ask them what this means. Ask them also how
long they have been in the Automotive Lighting Industry. We are aware of at
least 16 companies who have started this year and offer HID conversion. Also
check with the harness. Does it have the connectors for 1) Halogen
lamp2)Ballast3)Relays4)Fuses5)Battery and is it then fully sealed and water
proof with each of the joints HTAT protected?.
Our lamps are made by taking the D2 lamps directly from Philips in Aachen
and removing everything except the Discharge envelope. We then mould a new
base to this envelope in a photometric sphere. The lamp is made exactly as
the lamps in Philips by using 5 axis of reference to make sure that the
lamps perform as they should. The second point and I attach a photo for your
consideration is how do you locate the 'Converted ' D2 into your reflector.
The photo shows that you cannot use the clips that hold your halogen lamp as
the bases are just TOO big. One is a photo of our lamp fitted to a
reflector. The other 2 demonstrate what I have said above.
If you choose to go the price way let me know and I will give you details
that will under cut the likes of HIDXENON.COM and PML etc .
Finally our warranty states if any part fails due to a manufacturing defect
we will replace it , period.
Thanks for your enquiry to Autolamps Online

QUOTE my answer to the above reply
Dear Sir/Madam,
Thank you for your immediate reply.
I am glad you took the time and effort to fully explain the reasoning behind
the price you have quoted.
This way I will be able to inform the other members of this group purchase
about it.
As I have already mentioned to you since I am European Union based your
offer appears more to my liking (call it EU comraderie).
But as coordinator of this group purchase I have to give a reasoning behind
my decisions and also provide my fellow buyers with a complete view of the
market and what is available to it, price and quality wise.
If the price of 550US$ (shipping included) that you quoted is accepted by
the other interested people would you agree on a quantity of 5 or 6 that are
currently interested?
Thanks again for your kind replies and actions.
Pantelis Giamarellos
P.S. Sorry for not addressing you by your name but unfortunately until now
you have not personally signed your replies.

P.S. Sorry for posting all the correspondence but my position as coordinator
of this group purchase obliges me to have anything at the disposal of each
and everyone who is either interested or informed about it.
If the S-cars and the audifans lists do not want to be informed about it or
want to just be notified about its outcome please advise me accordingly.
