Another thought on HID lights

Last night, I saw a nice new A6 2.7T with HID lights in Bishop. My 90 csq
with VH-1 was part of a long line of skiers cars running the 4.5 to 6 hr
gauntlet from Mammoth to LA. Up close the HIDs were bright, but not
offensive. However, even when they were just a bright blur on the horizon
behind us, those "whiter" HID lights really stood out.
Several times each trip, often after a radar event where several of us
could have been the one "painted" I want to be invisible. If, Smokey
decides to ticket, they have to pick someone. There are subtle things
you can do to hide, if you don't stand out.
I started wondering about my euro lights. After a watching traffic for a
few hours, I concluded that projector lights (like my eurolights) are
getting common and they don't appear unusual from a distance, if they are
adjusted properly. Mis-adjusted lights are common on this trip. Many
cars and SUVs are loaded tail heavy when they go skiing.

Craig
