Need help in Dc Area.

I'm having some problems with my 1990 90 and since I'm kind of flying blind
I was wondering I there was a kind soul in the area that would be willing to
share some knowledge.

Symptoms:

Before - easy start, rough idle for a few seconds - understand that it's
probably ISV valve, but I'm still fuzzy on how to clean.

Now - Check engine light comes on, hard to start, and lengthy rough idle
period.

I'm obviously missing something rather large and I probably only need about
an hour of instruction.
