Cuz we're all using Delrin bushings!
Sorry, it just came out :-) Several places carry the Delrin bushings for
the Audi's. I was going to go with the Delrin bushings for my 5ktq, but was
talked out of it by 2Bennett. 2Bennett would have sold them to me, but the
fellow on the phone discouraged them for use on primarily street cars as the
are more maintenance intensive than the rubber bushings. I gather you need
to check the tightness on the nuts fairly often, as they are likely to work
loose. Bad things happen when the nuts come off, so unless you commit to
actively maintaining your suspension, you should stay away.
I, too, would be curious if something like urethane bushings might be good
for a more performance oriented street car than stock, but without the
hassle of the Delrin.
I must also say, the stock bushings, when new, are not bad. I'd go from
worn to new, then from new to Urethane or Delrin. To my sense, the leap
from worn to new is much greater than the leap from new to Delrin.
