Value added TAX @ 17.5%

Stands for Ministry of Transport. Each car has to go through an MOT
test every year after it is 3 years old. Similar to a state inpection
in the US I believe

This is an easy way to identify a cars age.

A reg started in 1983, B in 1984 etc until 1998 when they started
changing the letter every 6 months which makes it more difficult to
follow
