Hi group,
My other Audi 100 Typ 43 car, standing for about 8 (!)
years now, presents the following problem:
After a long time of standing the pistons don't seem to be
corroded to the cylinders.. :-))
I injected some engineoil in the spark-holes on each
cylinder (4 -pot engine, 2.0 litre, 115 hp, carburettor)
I cleaned the plugs and screwed them in again..
A freshly loaden battery attached: with the help of 'start
pilot' stuff sprayed in the carburettor-venturi and some
churning the engine ran.., drinking out of a jerrycan with
fuel, as the tank has deposits in it..
But: I need to half-depress the throttle to keep it running:
easing it let the engine stop..
As it doesn't seem an electrical problem (then it wouldn't
start at all), could the fuel or air needles be the cause??
Only some are accessible when I take off the air-cleaner
housing (it the Pierburg 2-step carburettor), but on
explosion-pictures I have, there are some jets inside, but
I can remember I ever tried to open the carburettor itself
(upper from lower half), but I didn't get it...
Would the accessible jets and cleaning (blowing through
them) make a difference??
BTW: on starting/running there is some backfire out of
the carburettor-venturi (I saw real flames erupting!): this
would mean the ignition is not set right??
I do have a flashlamp and revolutioncounter to regulate
the 'schliesswinkel', but to do so the engine must be
running on its own (about 950 rpm)..
Maybe you have some useful thoughts on this??
TX
Robert
