Exactly. The real problem with a late 80's 5k is not so much that the
cars are junky, but that the book value has been depressed for so long
that it has been "uneconomical" to repair them properly for a *long*
time.
You can inherit that lack of maintenance and repair history if you are
unlucky.
They are beautiful, moderately expensive cars that typically have been
treated as cheap cars for too many years in many instances.
travelling from owner to owner as each one discovers their "new" baby
needs $2k of hydraulic work...
