Woohoo! That was fun. It was hours ago, but I'll try to convey the
feeling at the time.
It was raining here in AZ, and there is a dirt field here by the house.
It was all very wet mud, so when I got home from work in my '88
5kcstq, I locked the hubs and went bogging.
Haha, what fun. I'd imagined it and read about it, but I haven't done
it before. I don't think I've ever seen it. I was doing donuts and
spinning all four wheels and stuff. I don't even know the
terminology, but phrases like four-wheel drift come to mind. Is that
where you are clawing your way around a corner, pointing where
you want to go, but with a slip angle?
I don't know if it was bad for the car, going near redline in first gear,
hubs locked, while rotating basically on an axis of basically "me".
My gut instinct is that there are probably better things to do to the
car.
I got the car totally covered in mud, which I hosed off in the rain
afterwards. These car's can be lots of fun!
It seems safer to do this in mud than in snow, since snow can hide
rocks and tree stumps.
It must be so fun to rally and stuff like that. If would have had a
couple football fields to play around in, I would have had a blast!
I think just about any 2wd would have been s.o.l. and gotten stuck.
Later,
Ken
