ABS disabling, '88 5kcstq

My ABS apparently isn't working properly, perhaps due to 
contamination/corrosion of the toothed sensor triggerer thing.

Someone posted or emailed that they disconnected theirs by 
disconnecting the brain under the back seat.  After that, it's like not 
having ABS (I guess).

So, today I pulled the relay that is under the dash, the one that has 
a 10a fuse in it.

Is there any reason why this is not a desirable method for 
disconnecting the ABS?  I didn't see any smoke. :-P
