Hi to all,
Recent to the list, and might i say this is a gregarious list! Which makes
me even more excited by my recent purchase. Although its not a quattro, it
is a model by which i look forward to driving in the near future after a few
fix ups. Tires, e-brake cables, and a front turn signal lamp seem to be the
only visual things i can determine that i need to pass inspection. The body
is good, interior excellent. With all this i am more skeptical about the
engine. I believe it should be the 2.3 litre I5, but it could be the 2.2 (i
have to check the VIN. The car has 127,000 original miles (verified by car
fax) and upon startup there is no funny colored smoke, blue nor white. It
idles nicely has some power too it, but i hear what i think is a sticky
valve. It quites down every now and then, but still it worries me.
I guess my question to all you seasoned Audi veterans is: IF this was
your car, what should i look for for tell tale signs of future engine
failure, or is there something i can do to extend the life of this fine
machine.(i plan on replacing timing-belt, waterpump very soon) believe it or
not i only spent $400 on this car, and dont mind putting some money into it
to be a daily driver. I have enclosed a link to a picture of the $400 beast because i
am so proud.
Ps. I am going to need some sunroof parts (the sunroof itself isnt even
connected to anything) IF anyone knows where to buy parts like this let me
know.
Thanks
