CoupeGT purchase

The ticking, or "metal slapping" noise you hear is likely the vacuum
booster pump for the power brakes. It's on the left side of the
cylinder head, facing forward. Some, including me, have pulled the
pump off, removed the rod that follows the eccentric cam lobe that
drives it, and reinstalled the pump. The pump augments normal
manifold vacuum to provide boost for the brakes. It is mostly
desired/useful during braking while the throttle is open (wide?).
Or, it could be the lifters, which reside under the cam and are
about $10 each (x10). I would rule out the vacuum pump first.
Also, some have had luck running some Marvel Mystery Oil in the
engine to eliminate the noise. Some of this stuff can be applied
directly into the pump while it is off.
Compression and leakdown tests are good indicators of engine
health. How do the plugs look?
