photos.  The 5th one down is most of a 2.3 in a coupe GT (87.5 only) 
The top two are about what it will look like if it is the 2.2.  You say
yours is an 87.5, and it looks like one, too.  Another dead giveaway -
only the 2.3 87.5 has rear disc brakes (unless they were swapped on).

probably a lifter, some oil changes with a good oil should help.

change the oil every 5k, fix anything that goes wrong right away, and
ask again in about 180,000 miles.

the sunroof is not supposed to be connected to anything, at least to a
mechanism of any sort.  It just tilts or comes out (store it in the
trunk in those two little rails at the top)
