1990 Type 44 turbo quattro Avant. Highest indicated speed so far 152
mph. Total cost ca. $5500 including purchase and the attentions of
Scott Mockry. Add another $150 (!!) for the 7J Fuchs alloys and new
tyres I bought off a scrapper a couple of weeks back.
Best experience so far - taking decorating materials to my son's place
and passing a Mercedes E420 convertible at 144 mph with paint pots and
a wooden step ladder in the back.
Also gave an S4 a shock a few days ago. Taking the Hemingford Abbots
on-slip towards Huntingdon in my usual manner - real slow until I
spot a gap, then hammer down - I got an S4 flashily up my rear bumper.
Not the way to tackle that particular junction. But anyway - when the
hammer went down it caught him completely unawares. Then a WMB
convertible on the A1/A14 junction - tried to follow the bus and wound
up with a SEVERE dose of fishtailing. Bet his girlfriend
(ex-girlfriend?) wasn't happy.
