The problem with this sort of communication is the lack of inflection, and
clarification.
My cap is metal as well, and I do not know about other years etc.
When I did my cap, I used the bolt as a locking device for the original
"bolt" that had a stepped end to accommodate the spring perch. The original
bolt was secured from the factory with locktight, and very difficult to break
loose. Once loose, it allowed 9 full turns of increased force on the stock
spring. That alone pushed the in-dash boost gauge from (a very approximately)
1.6 to 1.9. I have since replaced the stock spring with a stiffer unit
purchased from Charlie Smith from this list. The result is a dash indicated
boost level of 2.1. I hooked up a pressure gauge to check psi, and now see 13
PSIG, which must be added to atmospheric for total PSI. With the wastegate
top plug removed, I was able to adjust the bolt with a 6 mm Allen wrench. You
gotta love a car that you can increase HP with the turn of a bolt.
My URQ is experiencing hard starts when hot. Everybody on the list suggested
replacing the injectors. I did. The cost was $225 in parts. The result was no
change. Don't be too easily convinced the injectors are bad. Changing the
injectors was much easier than I anticipated. It took about 45 minutes, and I
didn't even get dirty. That was partly because they had been out only 6
months earlier. Have new O-rings (part #034 133 557 E for the URQ) on hand
before you pull them out. The old ones will be brittle, and need replacing.
The new ones will pop in easily with a light coating of bacon grease. It
sounds weird, but it is a great organic lubricant, that doesn't screw up O2
sensors. Also works great for suspension bushings etc.
If there are is anything else I can possibly help with let me know.
Dennis
