Hot start problem, 87 5kcstq

This sounds familiar. Another lister local to me is having the same problem
on his 5ktq. We ran fuel pressure tests and diagnosed a bad check valve.
Pressure drops like a rock once the pump stops. Don't know if this is vapor
locking the fuel lines or what.
I'm sure the other lister we'll post up whether replacing the check valve
cures his problem. Let us know what solves your problem.

As it's easiest (and always try the easy things first), try the FP
relay. Maybe run the output diagnostics (when the problem actually occurs)
at: http://www.sjmautotechnik.com/ecuf.html#out1
If that doesn't help (which for this problem it didn't for me), you might
want to check the fuel pressure. The check valve (on the fuel pump) in my
car was ok, but loose. Tightened it up, and my warm start problem was
solved.
If you can't do it (check fuel pressures), maybe the dealer can. I will
occasionally take the car to the dealer for "diagnostics" as they have more
tools than I do. It's been a few years, but they used to charge $60/hr,
and it's helped me diagnose things like knock sensors that I can't really
test.
Good luck,
Arryn
