It sounds like the standard leaky fuel pump check valve.  My experience has 
been the  procedure in the Bentley or Bosch manuals of connecting the 
pressure gauge in the fuel line and then waiting for the pressure to drop 
off, doesn't always rule out a leaky check valve.  If you have the guages I 
would check the pressures anyway.  The valve is relatively cheap its just a 
PITA to change it. There also is a checkvalve in the fuel distributor but 
they don't seem to cause many problems.
