BIRA on 4kq?

Well the rotors I have designed are exceedingly expensive like Porsche
gear, but they are a bit pricey. For my system 1 setup the prices compare
like this: stock A8 ~$250 Coleman A8 copy ~$650. So it is $400 more, but I
think it's well worth it. I dropped a bunch of unsprung weight compared to
the stock A8 rotor, actually the Coleman rotor weigh half of what the stock
A8 does. After all was said and done the BIRA System 1 w/ Coleman rotors
weighs less than the single piston system on most TYP89's, 5k, and 100's.
It also blows away the weight of the G60 upgrade, that is like strapping
anchors to the struts.
As for finding a rotor for another manufacturer, looks bleak. I
searched all over. I contacted, Brembo, ATE/Teves, Stillen, Outlaw,
Bremben, Zimmerman, and many others looking for anything. These cars may
use a 4x108, but they don't have a 68mm hub centric center bore that is
perfectly cut to what the Audi hubs take. It's easier to switch wheels
between these cars, but then it can be hard as the 57.1mm center of the Audi
wheels isn't common as I've seen.
The big cost of the Coleman rotors is that hats, but those are reusable,
unless you're a track junky, and even then they should last for years. The
hats are $450, almost the total cost. The rotors for System 1 are less than
$100 each, so when they get replaced they cost a bit less than replacing a
stock A8 rotor. The weight benefit aside, then there's cooling. Look at
the pics on the BIRA site and you can see major differences in vane size.
These would offer lots of cooling at the track, though the stock A8 seems to
do well, but it does get pretty hot as member's of BIRA have noted, but no
warpage!
Now as for the 4kq. The strut dims, carrier tabs, are the wrong
distance from each other, sorry. You would have to fit the 80 TYP89 single
piece struts. This is very possible. Then once you have that done you
could fit the BIRA systems with Coleman rotors. If you did a 5 bolt
conversion you'd still be stuck.
Cheers!
