OK. Take three.
First, according to the album, 171 253 147 G supersedes to
893 253 147 D. You can see this part in, for example,
Passat Synchro (PASY) illustration 252-55 at the tail end
of the down pipe. It looks like an exhaust hanger. There
are similar donuts on the following illustration holding up
the tail pipe end of the exhausts but these have a different
p/n 893 253 147 E. This supports the idea that the "D"
donut is a reinforced part. The bad news is that the part
may be significantly more expensive than that $8 to $9
number. The album gives me a price around 10GBP.
