Listers,
I only received one response for my ETKA help post. From the various posts I
can tell that many have the ETKA cd. Somebody must know how to get it
running!!!
I got my euro version of ETKA running. There was a file on the cd called
"hardlock.exe". I ran that file first then ran the Etksetup.exe file . . .
and the program works fine.
I would like to get my ETKA USA version running . . . . the software is
looking for the "dongle". Someone must have the crack for that, or a copy of
the hardware lock, or some other work-around.
I'm willing to share the cd's, if you can do some reverse engineering on it.
Send me a self addressed, proper "envelope", stamped for the weight, and I
will burn and send you a cd copy . . . no charge.

=======================
PREVIOUS POST
I have an ETKA CD, Euro version, summer 1999
I have an ETKA CD, USA version, #47705
I had no problems making a cd copy of the USA version. But, the euro version
gave me fits . . . something about data underruns. I made a disc image of
the cd on my hard drive, and then made a cd of the disk image. That seemed
to work ok.
My contact tells me that the Euro version works without any "dongle". The
USA version will need a "dongle" to make it work.
I installed both versions. The USA version is looking for a dongle . . you
get an error message.
The Euro version seems to work, but hangs up on one of the menus . . . I
have to fool around with it some more.
Any listers out there with reverse engineering backgrounds? I might be able
to get my hands on a "dongle" and take some measurements with an ohm meter.
As I recall, dongles usually have a diode or two inside . . and the dongle
is usually attached to the printer parallel port.
