toss the throttle body completely?

FYI, a diesel (at least VW/Audi) is ALWAYS WOT, the throttle control the
amount of diesel fuel to enter each cylinder, and regulate the engine
speed this way. I dont think a gas engine would work this way, I bet it
can rev up quite high (in neutral) on the idle fuel ratio. The throttle
plate does strangle the engine, it would rev freely without it. The
reason the Volvo didnt was that the air sensor plate has a strong spring
holding it down.
