A/C Woes- Can Anyone Shed Light?

Kerry,
I had an '89 200 with intermittent AC. It turned out that the relay which
controlled the AC compressor clutch was intermittent due to a fault in the
wiring underneath the relay socket. Somehow the connector wires in the
fuse/relay box under the hood had been pushed in deeper than their proper
depth and the relay pins were only making partial contact with the
connector wires. Sometimes it would work and sometimes it wouldn't. It
seemed somehow to be related to the phase of the moon and the time of day
and whether or not the driver had had his morning coffee or not. :-) The
trick is to get underneath the fuse/relay box (just _barely_ reachable from
the driver's footwell area) and push the connector wires back up where they
belong. Then hope you never ever have to pull the relay again.
