Round and round it goes and comes off here . . .

Need some odd parts for a 4 cyl 1986 4000, 2wd automatic.

Car is eating alternator belts right, left and center. Goes about 50 to 100
miles and zap, another one is gone. I've very carefully run my finger
around the vee of the alternator pulley, the water pump pulley and the
correct groove on the harmonic balancer, and other than one dent in the
alternator pulley (since fixed), they seem smooth and OK. Owner has tried
US and German belts, various sizes and angles, correctly installed and
tensioned, no good.

Belts come off chewed up on the rear side, then they break. She now has a
pretty impressive collection of very low time broken alternator belts.

Power steering belt is fine, stays on and works prefectly.

Plan B is to see if anyone has these three parts: Alternator pulley, water
pump pulley, harmonic balancer. Please be gentle on prices - the owner of
the car is a sweet young thing (with a stud in her navel) and this is her
first car. There are no 4Ks in the local pick-n-pull right now, and she's
getting desperate.

Best Regards,

Mike Arman
