At the risk of starting one of those tire threads from
Hell, I'd appreciate the collective wisdom of the q-list
on the (subjective) question of whether there are better
replacement tires for my 2000 A4QS Avant than my first
choice at this point -- the Michelin MXV4 Energy.

My A4 came with Dunlop SP8000s, which have not
overwhelmed me (especially in crappy winter weather, as
some listers pointed out last winter). I am inclined to
go with the Michelins because I've been running Michelin
X-series tires on VW vans, Volvo wagons and my previous
Audi wagons for pretty near 30 years. I have found the
Michelins to be quiet, grippy and long wearing.

So I will have to be convinced that there is a tire out
there that is equally quiet, more grippy and long
wearing. Any nominees, especially from folks who are
familiar with MXV4s and have graduated to other brands?
Thanks.
