Noisy ... wheel bearings? - Solved!

It looks like Dave G. gets the "trick of the trade" prize for providing the
hint which allowed me to track down the offending noise maker. Just like
he said... A stethoscope clearly revealed the right front wheel bearing was
shot. The other clues were not present ... no discernable play in the
wheel, and the noise seemed to be coming from the left side. Stethoscope
shows the left side smooth as butter, right side not so smooth. Took the
right side apart and found some serious damage to the bearing.
BTW ... A long screwdriver makes a decent stethoscope. Simply press the
tip against the hub and the handle against the side of your skull near an
ear.
