crazy from the heat...speedometer problem...

Listers,
Normaly my speedometer works fine. However if it is very hot outside(80+) 
and I have left the windows up, my speedometer will bounce around 
annoyingly. It usually will bounce between 5-10MPH of the actual speed.

What is going on here? The speedometer is cable driven, right? How exactly 
would a heated interior/dash cause a problem? I assume the problem lies deep 
inside th IC? Thanks...
