Thanks to Jon, Tom, and Mike for your help so far.

So my father-in-law and I think we are going to rebuild my ailing 087
tranny. Anyone BTDT? (same tranny as in the 100/200/5000 up to 1990)

My father-in-law contacted Transtar in ohio and they told him
"You won't have any trouble rebuilding this tranny, it is pretty
straightforward, no special tools needed." (But they know he has been
through this kind of exercise before on other automatics)

Accordingly, the parts needed for maximum rebuild (no point in anything
less) are:

	Master Rebuild Kit, P/N K4000F $100.00
	  (Gaskets, seals, frictions, steels)
	Bushing Kit, K40905C 12.25
	Filter, 40800D 2.00
	Pistons:
		High & Reverse 40527 13.50
		First & Reverse 40528A 19.00
		Accumulator 40529A 5.25
		Forward 40530 13.50
-------
     TOTAL: $165.50

Sound about right?
Although when I looked through the archives earlier, people experienceing
thes symptons (hesitation when shifting into reverse when the tranny is
hot and then downhill from there) were replacing the hydraulic pump and
1st/reverse shell which reportedly retailed for around $500 or so each.
Reading the archives I got the impression that rebuilding was cost
prohibitive, although I couldnt find anything about people rebuilding it
themselves. Perhaps I will thoroughly document the event and post it.
