it is simple but a bit tricky and delicate.  easier with dist. off car.

undo the screw.  now the only attachment is a pin on the bit inside the
dist (hall sender plate?) which can be pried off gently.

the tricky part is getting the arm of the vac unit into the dist and
popped back on to that pin.  As I recall it was "easier" when I used my
third hand to manually move the rotating plate to a rather advanced
position, which is closer to the hole the arm goes in through.  once the
arm is on the pin, you just attach the vac device to the body of the
dist with the screw and you're done.
