Damn near impossible. BTDT with my '95 A6QW. I finally just ended up
trading it in on a new '00 A6Q with a 5-speed.
The older cars, up to about '90, were relatively easy to swap, there
have been a few stories on the list of the changeovers. But the newer
cars have SO much different between the auto and the 5-speed that the
switchover would cost more than just buying a new car.
The 5-speeds were moderately rare in '95 (and were sedan ONLY, no
wagons at all), almost extinct in '96, and totally gone '97-'99.
I did see a '95 A6Q 5-speed for sale at a local dealership a while
back, but I opted for the new car instead.
