fender mounted blinkers

I'm looking for a set of fender-mounted blinkers for my S6. I know a couple
of people have done this upgrade...what will I find when I drill into the
fender <gasp!>? Single layer of sheet metal, several...what's the access
like for the wiring?

Should I go with current generation side blinkers from an A6 or should I get
OE European? Any difference?

It was a whole lot easier on my Volvo...heat up the Volvo badge, pull it
off, pass the wiring through the exposed hole, and pop the lamp in!
