A8 Climate Control Problem

My climate control system on my 97 A8 doesn't seem to be working correctly.
It's the dual system I think also found in some A6's?
If I set it to Auto, it has to be down around 67 to get it to blow out of
the center vents (it's about 80F outside and hot inside). If I choose manual
mode and select the center vents, it doesn't always come out there unless
it's set to 67 or lower. If it's nighttime, then it has to be set to LOW
sometimes, otherwise the air vents are lined up to "LIMBO" which I didn't
see in the owner's manual. When it is in limbo, I can turn the fan on high
and it's blowing, but the vents aren't lined up so air isn't coming out
anywhere, or maybe it's coming out the heat vents but I just can't figure it
out.
Any ideas? Can you pull the codes on head unit? Without a manual, I'm lost.
Anyone else have these problems?
TIA
Paul
