I lived there recently for about two years.

Great mechanic there.  Bill at Protech Motorsports.

Urban sprawl probably dictates that you get there, get your 
bearings, then find a place to rent.  If it would work for you,
near downtown is pretty cool.  Some friends rented a big'ole
house for pretty cheap (with four roomies splitting it).  Go
east or north... uphill anyway on the main drag through downtown
and it's a nice old neighborhood.

Downtown is pretty cool.  Evening events, bars, and they're even
starting to grant licenses to serve alcohol on Sundays, I've heard.

Cool pizza place on Washington just off the main downtown drag.
Don't remember the name, but very good.

I was getting ready to stay a while when the layoff train stopped
at my company.
