My '82 2.0 16v Rabbit Westmorland truck has some minor rust but I wouldn't 
say its rusted out.  I would say the German cars of the same era are superior 
in build quality.  My truck originally had a Mexican motor but I have swapped 
in an '82 1.7 Scirocco engine then a '87 16v Scirocco engine and now the 
Audi/Passat 9A 2.0 litre block.  I love the VW family lego cars.
