I would suggest calling the cops and calling your insurance company. 
But I also would not expect much satisfaction, so try to mellow out and
get past it after you have done those two things.  (call your ins. co.
to have someone on your side with $$ at stake...)

The only thing you have "going for you" is that *they* left the car
unlocked, enabling the theft.

and, my condolences, it sucks to get ripped off.
